Every project in this room was once a guess.
Each began with an idea, driven by a vision, and manifested with care and craft. Some here are building the next big thing. Some are doing it for fun. Others because they believe the world needs to look or work a little differently. Some because they have a message, and connect through creation. All of them are moving culture in ways that might look unexpected now and will look inevitable in hindsight.
This is a show about technology moving and shaping culture across generations. It’s about the ideas, fashions, trends, and concepts that spark, fade away, come back, and echo across time. It’s about the frictions that began as constraints and are now deliberate choices. It’s about ingenuity and creative drive, the magic that occurs when a creative vision finds its way to a fan. It’s about the art of foresight, how hard it is to tell what’s going to be a huge hit, and how even our failures move us forward.
Nearly every product and project makes a claim on your time, a promise to give you more back, or to spend it better. So does this.
This exhibition is physical on purpose, and situated in the heart of downtown’s premium brandscape, giving new and niche technology a home amidst the familiar backdrop of global commerce. We see these ideas on our screens and in our feeds, only if we know where to look. Now you can see them come alive— see, touch, and hear the work, and be inspired by what’s happening in tech now.
It was a labor of love to produce, a bold bet to finance, and it takes effort to visit.
Only now and only here in SF.
